Nursing

by Margarete Schebesch

I hold you in my arms, my sweetest child
And watch you while my deepest love you drink,
I look into the mirror of your eyes
And wish forever in this look I'd sink.

How can it be that I'm completely yours,
That I belong to you with all my self,
As soon as I see you – and as you nurse
I swear I'll never love somebody else?

Is it because I nurse you at my breast
That lets my sweetest dream of all come true?
I only wanted to give you the best
And with my milk I give my heart to you.
